Heat & Serve Instructions

A successful holiday starts with timing! And since timing is everything, you’ll want to allow a minimum of 1 hour for preparing and heating your food before you serve it. For faster preparation be sure to pre-heat your oven. Use these heating/cooking instructions to plan ahead so you’ll end up with a perfectly delicious dinner and more time to spend with your family.

Cooking/Heating Instructions are provided for the following items:Whole Deep Fried Turkey, Southern Red Beans (64 oz) Macaroni & Cheese (64 oz), Candied Yams (64 oz), Cornbread Dressing (64 oz), Turkey Gravy (16 oz) and Whole Berry (16 oz) Cranberry Sauce. The whole deep fried turkey and sides arrive frozen or partially frozen and must be defrosted before they are ready to heat and serve. After defrosting, keep food refrigerated until ready to heat.

NOTE: DO NOT leave cooked food at room temperature for longer than two hours. All items served hot should be be heated to 165°F for both microwave, stovetop and oven.

TURKEY

OVEN INSTRUCTIONS

Jive Turkeys arrive in an oven safe bag that allows the turkey

to remain juicy and moist when heated. Turkeys have been

deep fried and are not fully cooked before your purchase at retail or before shipping.

Upon arrival your turkey will be frozen or partially thawed and should be removed

from the box (but kept in the oven-safe bag) and immediately placed into

your refrigerator or freezer.

STORE: Refrigerator: If you will be enjoying your turkey within 2 to

3 days of delivery or purchase, store the turkey in your refrigerator.

If you will be enjoying your turkey more than 3 days after delivery or purchase,

store your turkey in your freezer. Then, 2 days before your dinner defrost

the turkey by moving it from the freezer to the refrigerator. If frozen the turkey will require defrosting in the refrigerator, the turkey may take up to two days to defrost completely. We recommend freezing only the whole turkey as when thawed and reheated in portions may no longer have the same flavor or texture.

PREP: When you are ready to reheat, arrange the turkey in the bag so that there is room for the bag to expand in the oven. Make sure that turkey's oven-safe bag is tightly closed.

Place the turkey on a cookie sheet or in a shallow baking pan. Adjust the racks in your oven to allow enough room for the oven bag to expand during reheating without touching oven walls or racks. Preheat your oven to 350 F. Once heated place the turkey in the oven.

Heat your turkey until the internal temperature of 160 F is reached, this typically can be achieved in approximately 30 to 60 minutes but may take longer.

TEST: All Jive Turkeys are not fully cooked, and it is important to check the

turkey for an internal temperature (where the leg and the thigh meet) of

at least 160 F before eating your turkey. This may be achieved in an hour, it may take longer. For a warm turkey the internal

temperature should be 160 F for a hotter turkey the thermometer should

read 170 - 180 F.

Be careful not to overcook the turkey. Remove the turkey from the oven

when ready. Leave at room temperature for about 10 minutes, then carefully

cut the bag open and remove the turkey. Place your turkey on a cutting board

and let it sit another 10 minutes before carving. Enjoy!

GLAZES:

Turkeys with glazes can be served two ways - either directly on the turkey for

presentation, or in a separate dish to allow guests to serve themselves. Either

way the glaze should be heated first. MICROWAVE: Transfer the glaze to a

microwave safe bowl. Heat on high for 4 to 5 minutes, pausing to stir if needed.

STOVETOP: Transfer the glaze to a saucepan. Heat on the stovetop for 15 to 20

minutes on LOW to MEDIUM heat, stirring occasionally.
